The Importance of Black Pants

I’ve been 40 years discovering that the queen of all colors was black.

-Pierre-Auguste Renoir

You can wear black at any time. You can wear it at any age. You may wear it for almost any occasion.

-Christian Dior

Black is the quintessence of simplicity and elegance.

-Gianni Versace

It is undeniable that there is a large variety of tops. The top styles are much more than pant styles, and the design differences from tops to pants include prints, colors, and patterns. I can give some typical examples of pants:

  1. Dark-colored pants: black and navy pants.
  2. Brightly-colored pants: orange, red, yellow, and green pants.
  3. White, Blue, brown, gray, khaki pants.
  4. Printed pants: for instance, floral print leggings, polka dot pants.

However, in reality, single color, especially black, blue (blue jeans), and navy pants are mostly worn. Many people find it difficult and uncomfortable to mix brightly-colored and printed pants with other items.

Therefore, it can be inferred from this point that there are a limited number of pants to pair with a greater number of tops. This also means that we can have different kinds of tops to go with a particular pair of pants.

What is the most popular color in men and women’s pants in the world today, black, blue (blue jeans), or navy?

My answer is black. You may think: “It must be blue. Thousands of people like wearing blue jeans everyday.”

It cannot be denied that blue jeans are one of the most widely worn items of clothing in the world. But denim is often considered casual wear and we are not allowed to wear blue jeans to important events or formal places. For example, you should not be wearing blue jeans to a job interview, diplomatic places and events.

Instead of blue jeans, you can choose black pants on those occasions. Obviously, the popularity of blue is less than black because of this.

Black pants are considered a basic item which shopaholics and fashionistas must have.

Besides the popularity of black pants, what advantages do the item own?

My answer is the eternity of black. Henri Matisse, a French artist, said that: “When I didn’t know what color to put down, I put down black.” I agree with him. Black has shown its dominance over other colors for decades. Most of modern cars are painted with black rather than white, although they were invented in 1800s.

In my opinion, the elegant combination of black pants and other items is given below:

  1. Harmonizing other colors; providing a dark backdrop to support your top. Our shirts, t-shirts, tank tops, blazer, coats and jackets will go well with only a pair of black pants. Black is one of the darkest colors and well combined with all the other colors.
  2. Black pants have an interesting thing that everybody can wear them. It seems that large legs will become skinnier when they are covered by black pants.

White T-shirts and black pants always look good together

The most important thing I want to make here is for those who want to improve their color combining skills and dress well (for both men and women). Let’s think about it. The black pants are one of the most common pants which can work well with tops. How can you improve your dressing skills if you do not master ways of combining your items with the pants? Therefore, if you want to dress well, start with your black pants and think about different ways of mixing styles with the pair. Besides, the process itself will give you more options for your existing clothes, and combining clothes will gradually become your habit.
